A group of American Patriots, exercising their 2nd Amendment right to 'Keep and Bear Arms', visited downtown Carlsbad, CA on Saturday morning, 25 July, 2009, carrying holstered, unloaded firearms, in full compliance with the laws of California and their rights under the Constitution. ('Use it or lose it', as one Patriot was heard to say.) Carlsbad Police were notified in advance, two police cars were noted driving by during the entire 3 hour operation, many passersby were interested and supportive - and were given brochures entitled "California - Open Carry. No License Required. YES, IT'S LEGAL!" When asked if we had a licence to carry, we told them "Yes, the same 'License' you have. It's called The Constitution".
